Course Overview
Introduces basic materials and methods used in construction from Divisions 10-14 of the MasterFormat System. Topics include: physical and chemical properties; the manufacturing process of various material and methods and the way they are implemented in a construction project.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify construction materials from the Divisions 10 through 14 of the MasterFormat and allocate them according to standard practice grouping.
- Identify the chemical and physical make-up of some basic construction materials and assemblies.
- Identify basic methods of fabricating and installing these basic construction components.
- Explain the sequence of installing these basic components with a view to authorities having jurisdiction.
