Course Overview
This course teaches you how to create professional medical documents. There is an emphasis on letter formatting and accuracy. You will be introduced to ergonomics, transcribing rules, and medical abbreviations in preparation for medical transcription. You will also produce professional documents in styles appropriate for different audiences.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Produce medical documents using proper formatting techniques.
- Produce medical documents by correctly applying transcription rules.
- Distinguish between words that sound similar but are grammatically different in meaning and use.
- Differentiate between full block and modified block.
- State when a number should be a figure, in spelled-out form, or as a Roman numeral.
- Create professional documents, letters, and emails that are respectful to recipients, well-structured with proper paragraphs, and free of spelling, abbreviation, and grammatical errors.
- Produce documents, letters, and emails that are styled appropriately for different audiences, such as managers, co-workers, physicians, patients, and businesses.
- Describe ethical issues and concerns that relate to communications with different audiences.
- Explain practices for maintaining patient confidentiality, including handling of medical records and communication of sensitive information.
